Indeed, infectious diseases are now a major issue around the world. Novel and mutated infectious diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), Ebola, and Zika virus have been occurring almost every year. The outbreak of these infectious diseases is powerful enough to severely threaten the public health and national economy. In addition, due to the increased international exchanges, infectious diseases have easily spread to other countries. Now Infectious diseases have become a common challenge requiring a collective effort throughout the world.

Each country may have different circumstances. For example, in some countries, there are many patients with infectious diseases, but they may have insufficient research facilities or manpower. In some other countries, there are sufficient research facilities and manpower, but the number of patients with infectious diseases may make it difficult to obtain the clinical resources needed for research. We believe that if we cooperate with each other in these different circumstances, we will be able to make up for the deficiencies each other and create synergy in responding to infectious diseases.
